This is the first post of my “Tools I Use” series. My goal over the next few posts is to help others improve their time management, learn about tools that help me in my day to day life, and things that assist in keeping work, home, side projects going smooth.
First up to bat… Microsoft Live Writer
If you have a blog (like this one), this tool is a must. I know… I have probably already lost cool points from all my Apple / Mac fan boys because I am promoting a Microsoft product. FYI: I have not found a product on my Mac that is as good nor as free.
Live Writer is just what the picture to the right promotes: Any Bloggers Dream Publishing Program! And it’s FREE!
Key features that make my life easier and sometimes its the little things:
- Easy uploading, editing, formatting, alignment of images
- Options to force categories on blog posts
- It’s not a editor in a web browser
- Spell check
- Posting “draft” posts to blog
- Familiar interface. Much like Microsoft Word
- To quote Susanne: “it just has more options!”
When you download it, know it is part of the Microsoft Essentials package. What this means is… expect the install package to try and install Messenger, Bing Toolbar, and more stuff you don’t want. FYI: Family Safety is one you may also want to consider
