"Contrary to popular belief–a disciple is NOT someone who merely knows a lot about the Bible. Heck, the devil knows a lot about the Bible…but I would not call him a disciple of Christ. What a great Word! The Bible says in Matthew 9:37, "Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few'."
When reading the Gospels I have seen over and over again that Jesus not only taught the disciples, but He also sent them out to do the work of God’s kingdom! AND…when He ascended into heaven, He left them to do the work.
Someone who wants to sit on their rear-end and read the Bible and then DO nothing is NOT becoming more like Christ…they are actually becoming more like satan…who, like I mentioned earlier, KNOWS Scripture but applies none of it."
In the day to day operation of God's Kingdom, there is a lot to be done. God calls all us men to be like Benaiah.
Huh?... who is that??? Turn in your Bible to 2 Samuel 23:20-23 (or just click the link). What a guy! He for sure did not sit on his rear-end! He did not back down from challenges. He tackled them head on...
So, back to the title of this post. Are you more like satan... or are you the disciple Jesus intended you to be? Are you merely content just to just go to church, or do you follow hard after Jesus? Just a thought.
I want to share a story about something my mom told me years ago. She was referring to my thoughts on my pay while working at Food Lion years ago. She said, "You do not give your employer $4.75 worth of work, you give them 100% of your effort regardless of pay."
The same can be said in Church life... When doing something, give it all you've got!!! Don't do it half way. Serve like you are doing the task for Jesus... because ultimately you are!
